Works For Loudspeakers

Founder

Works For Loudspeakers is a quarterly listening party showcasing emerging and established composers. Every edition is different, and curated to give a platform for non-performative sound-based composition - music that would usually not have a public outlet. The audience is given an opportunity to exercise close listening in a friendly environment in Wellington.

Works For Loudspeakers began in 2014, and has been regularly held at a residence in Newtown, Toi Pōneke Arts Centre, and Pyramid Club. It is available as an archive on bandcamp, and has also been presented for the following platforms.

The Audio Foundation, Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland
Music From Her (2018), Thistle Hall Gallery, Pōneke/Wellington
FBi Radio (2018), Sydney
Magnet (2018), Naarm/Melbourne
Performance Arcade (2016), Pōneke/Wellington
Alhambra Sound Garden (2015), The Auricle, Ōtautahi/Christchurch
RadioActive (various), Pōneke/Wellington

As of mid 2018, Works For Loudspeakers is being continued via the collective Sonorous Circle.
